SWAG believes that the Edinbane Wind Farm is seen as a test case by the wind industry; as if a wind farm can be built here nowhere in Scotland can be considered safe outside national parks. SWAG has held off both developments for over 4 years, has two complaints lodged with Europe, one with the Scottish Ombudsman and has instigated a police investigation into possible fraud, collusion and criminal recklessness. We believe that we have evidence that Highland Council has predetermined the outcome of the October Hearing for the AMEC development and that to defeat both these intrusive developments we now need to mount a legal challenge on the grounds of contraventions of European Law and invoking Article 6 of the Human Rights Act. We need to be in a position to legally challenge any grant of planning approval and are now appealing for the funds to enable this objective to be achieved. If successful we believe that it could set a precedent that would help stop other ill sited developments. We would be grateful for any donation, however small.
