As previously reported, The Mountaineering Council of Scotland submitted an objection earlier this year to a planning application for the construction of a 43 turbine wind farm near Garve. The proposed farm would stretch from the A832 at Lochluichart in the south to Loch Glascarnoch on the A835 trunk road in the north, and would be visible from Ben Eighe in the west to Ben Wyvis in the east. map The developers, an Anglo-Dutch consortium called LZN Ltd, have now submitted a new application to Highland Council for a 22 turbine facility. The original application attracted some 1400 objections. The MCofS has submitted its response, which can be read here. A web site has been created by opponents of the scheme. On it there are detailed a number of reasons why this site is unsuitable for a windfarm development, and through it the public can submit their objection. Please visit www.a-windfarm-too-far.com and add your voice to the objectors. Also online, the Ross-shire Journal is running a poll to guage opinion. Members of the MCofS are urged to log on to this website and register their opposition to this proposal here. |
