Latest News from Beijing;
the Youth World Championships

The two Scottish competitors have performed well in their first attempt at the world Championships:

  • Natalie Berry finished 5th in the Junior B class final, equalling the
    best performance by any British competitor.
  • Robert McKenzie finished 39th in the Boys Junior B class

Natalie Berry's results through the competition:

  • 8th in Qualifier 1 (she missed a small foot hold high up)
  • 3rd in Qualifier 2
  • 2nd in the Semi Final
  • 5th in the Final

The Youth World Championships were held on the weekend 25-28/08/2005.

International Youth competitions are held by age and sex categories:

  • Youth B - this year this age category was for athletes born in 1990 and 1991
  • Youth A - this year this age category was for athletes born in 1988 and 1989
  • Junior - this year this age category was for athletes born in 1986 and 1987
(Each year the categories all move up one year).
