The first BRYCS event was held in 1998. The MCofS coordinates the Scottish series in partnership with the BMC. BRYCS is the fun event for young climbers aged between 7 and 15. Three age groups ensures that everyone has the chance to climb with people of the same age and experience. There are bouldering problems and leading or top-roping routes to try. Scotland has two regions competing as teams in BRYCS, North and South. Competitors can only compete and score points at their home regional heats of three competitions. The categories are for girls and boys in the 3 age groups from 7yrs to 15yrs. The top three in each category will have the chance to enter the final as a Regional Team to compete with the best young climbers in the UK.

Competition dates for all regions are available here, or from the individual venues and from MCofS office. MCofS Youth Members and families on benefit are able to get a discount.

This year we are introducing a 'FUN' element to the BRYCS series. Each round will continue to have a competitive element; competitor's scores leading to selection to the 'Team' that then competes in the British Final.

Running alongside will be a non-competitive, fun event for those children who simply wish to “have-a-go”. This will offer the chance to experience indoor competitions without pressure and to meet other young climbers.

We also welcome a new venue for North Scotland at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and for South Scotland, the Ratho Adventure Centre
