New Routes Request
for the American Alpine Journal 2008

A request from the editor of the American Alpine Journal:

Mountain Greetings!

the American Alpine JournalWe hope you had a good year of climbing in 2007. And we hope that you will tell the American Alpine Journal about your new routes in the mountains or on big walls. If you were not able to climb a new route in 2007, please forward this letter to your friends who were more fortunate!

Remember that published photographers will receive a copy of the AAJ 2008 next summer. And all contributors can view the latest AAJ online. This is a privilege normally reserved for AAC members only. If we printed your report in the AAJ 2007, you may view that issue online now. Please contact us for the password (aaj@americanalpineclub.org). Everyone can view past issues online at www.AmericanAlpineClub.org/AAJ, but only AAJ contributors and AAC members can view the latest edition.

Please forward this letter to your friends who have climbed big new mountain routes in 2007. We try to publish all the new routes, for the benefit of climbers worldwide and to build the true mountain history. Your help is critical to making this possible!

Here is a quick reminder about the American Alpine Journal: The AAJ tries to be the world's "journal of record" for documenting significant new climbs. We seek reports on all NEW long routes worldwide. ("Long" means a full day or more on the climb itself.) We normally do not publish repeat ascents unless there is important new information to report.

Our complete publishing guidelines are at www.AmericanAlpineClub.org/AAJ, or you can obtain them from our editors.
