Safety and Good Practice Seminar 22 -23 November 2003

On behalf of Edinburgh University Mountaineering Club, I would like to thank you very much for organising such a useful and interesting weekend. We feel we came away with a lot of valuable information and really benefited from discussing our thoughts and issues with such experienced people and with members of other mountaineering clubs. We have learnt a lot from the weekend and have many new ideas for improving the running and safety of our club. We are now planning ways in which we can pass on this information to the rest of the Club and implement some changes. We all commented on how encouraging and enthusiastic the leaders were and how this really inspired us not only in the running of the Club but also in mountaineering in general. The weekend was not only informative but also very enjoyable and in an excellent location.

The amount of effort put into the weekend to help student clubs such as ourselves was very much appreciated and we look forward to further interaction with the MCofS in the future.

Many thanks indeed,

Edinburgh University Mountaineering Club

Just a small note to extend warmest thanks on behalf of Heriot Watt Mountaineering Club for all the work put in to the weekend. From the chat on the way home it was clear that all of us learnt a great deal and had a great time over the course of the weekend. We found the seminar extremely well organised, informative and most importantly all the organisers / instructors friendly, enthusiastic and so very helpful.

I hope all the good work is rewarded with more of us enjoying the mountains but with a corresponding reduction in the student accident figures.

Many thanks again,

Heriot Watt University Mountaineering Club
