Navigation & Mountaincraft:
Cost £120 (Non residential £80)
Covers the basic skills of navigation, using map and compass, pacing and timing, relocation skills and strategies when lost. The additional knowledge of planning and route choice, equipment to carry, how to deal with an emergency etc. Staffing ratio is 1:6.
Rock Climbing Skills:
Cost £145 (Non residential £105)
Is aimed at those who have climbed indoors and want to make a move to the outdoors. It would be suitable for relative novices but there is an expectation that folk can tie the basic knots and have been to an indoor wall. The course will concentrate on equipment use, safe belaying practice, rope and stance management, runner placement, abseiling good practice etc. Staffing ratio is 1:4.
