New Parking Fee at Succoth

Bob Smith reports

The Argyll & Bute local authority will be charging parking fees at the car parks at Arrochar at the head of Loch Long, starting date unknown. The parking fees are reported to be 30p. per hour, or £1 per day per vehicle.

UPDATE
On a visit on Sunday 9th March, we found that the parking charges are now in effect.

These car parks were supposed to take the congestion of the road-side parking which was danger to other traffic.

This the main starting point for the Cobbler and adjacent high tops. New tracks have the constructed in the last few years starting from the car parks at Succoth and Arrochar. It would appear that the local authority smells easy money to be gained from climbing and hill walking fraternity.

This seems to be an ever growing norm within National Parks, and I think it is time that we stood up and made our feelings known about the carparking fees being charged in car parks adjacent to favourite hill walking and climbing areas.

I use this car park almost every day as I did the layby before the car park came into being, and as a local I already paying local authority rates and other charges, I feel that as a senior citizen who tries to keep fit and healthy this added charge is an imposition on me.
