Along the Rob Roy Way

Inaugural Walk 18 - 24 May 2002

Walkers are being invited to put their best foot forward and experience Scotland's newest route through the heart of the country.

The Rob Roy Way is the newest long distance walking route in Scotland. It covers 79 miles of breathtaking and varied scenery beginning in Drymen (where it links with the West Highland Way) passing through the Trossachs then via Loch Tay, Kenmore, Aberfeldy and sections of the River Tay and continuing on to the popular Highland Perthshire town of Pitlochry. The Rob Roy Way has also some additional route options for those seeking to experience the more remote Scottish glens.

The Inaugural Walk to launch the Way runs over a week starting on Saturday 18th May and concluding in Pitlochry on the afternoon of Friday 24th May. This is a guided walk led by one of the principal persons involved in the route's development. Not only will the walkers be among the first people to complete the walk they will learn of the fascinating and sometimes bloody history that surrounds these parts of Scotland.

Local walkers are welcome to join the Inaugural Walk for all of the route or just stages and are being encouraged to raise money for charity as part of the process. To participate in this launch event walkers can contact John Henderson of SCSupport Ltd, telephone 01896 822079, e-mail info@scsupport.co.uk, or visit the website www.robroyway.com. Support in the form of booking accommodation and back up transport will be provided by the organisers.
