Creag Dubh Rockfall

rockart by Kevin Howett

diagram of the crag -

Creag Dubh, Great Wall Area. The deep chimney left of centre is Nutracker Chimney and the slender pillar left again is the line of King Bee (VS) (page 208 'Highland Outcrops' SMC Guide. The wall in shadow to the left again is the line of Men Only (E3). The horizontal roof low down between the two is that taken by Run Free (E4). It is this roof that has fallen down. Take care when climbing any of these routes.

The grassy bay containing trees at the top of the pillar contains the peg belay station used as an abseil for these routes and which is currently unstable. The only other realistic option is to climb the broken ground above (described as pitch4. 30m 4b in the guide) and to descend across the top of Great Wall.
