Expedition Reports
The MCofS holds copies of reports from all expeditions that have received financial support from the MCofS and Scottish Sports Council since 1986. There are a total of 26 reports from areas as diverse as the Himalaya, Peru, Greenland and Russia. A list of these reports is available free upon receipt of a 1st Class SAE.
(now online) Full copies of the reports can be obtained at a cost of £3.00 each to MCofS members (£5.00 non-members) inclusive of p&p.
A Collection of mountaineering and walking books and magazines. (booklist) Newsletters of various voluntary organisations. Many papers and reports covering access and conservation issues, safety issues and other general information relating to Scotland. A press cuttings library of issues relating to the Scottish mountains. A full list is available upon receipt of a 1st Class A4 SAE. (online soon)
General information sheets are available which give details of guidebooks, accommodation, travel, etc. throughout Scotland. (these sheets are currently being updated)
Mountaineering Information Sheets and LeafletsThe following Information Sheets are available free to members upon receipt of an A4 SAE or at a cost of £1.00 each to non-members, unless specifically priced. (We will steadily be adding them to this website.)
We also produce a number of leaflets of advice for hill and mountain users. Batches of them may be obtained from the MCofS office, and their content is reproduced below.
In addition to the more detailed and specific Information Sheets outlined above, the MCofS offer a series of other publications giving information across the whole sphere of MCofS work.
Published 3 monthly; containing topical articles, campaigns, and information about the Scottish mountains and mountaineering scene. Free to members, non-members £3.25. Copies of past editions are available for £2.20, inclusive of p&p. (Issue 1 sold out)
Scottish Mountaineering Organisations' listsThe following lists are available from the MCofS. (at a small charge to non-members) They are updated on a regular basis and the records are as accurate as possible, however, the MCofS cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies. Some of these lists may not be available at times. Contacts list of voluntary organisations with an interest in the Scottish
mountains.
The MCofS currently employs two full-time officers; The National Officer and the Mountain Safety Adviser. They are available for advice and information at the office. Please call during normal office hours 9.30 am- 12 noon and 1.30 pm – 4 pm. For more detailed advice please make an appointment to visit the office.
