Greenland.

SMC Greenland Expedition.

A big team including Stephen Reid, Jason Preston and Colwyn Jones attempt the unclimbed South Ridge of Dansketinde in the Stauning Alps and the unclimbed South Face of Sussex (2,300m).

Peru.

Scottish Cordillera Blanca Expedition

Guy Robertson and Jason Currie succeeding in an alpine style ascent of the unclimbed east face of Santa Cruz Chico (5800m). Jointly supported with the BMC.

Lobouche / Ama Dablam

Jules Cartwright, Rich Cross, Paul Scheizer and Ali Coull attempt the North Face Direct of Lobouche (6,100m), and the North West Ridge Direct on Ama Dablam (6,800m). Jointly supported with the BMC.

Loftoten Islands, Norway

Scottish Loftoten Expedition.

Pete Benson and Guy Robertson made a first winter visit by Scottish climbers to the awesome rocky peaks of these islands 100km inside the Arctic Circle. They succeeded in their main objective, a first ascent of NE face of Vagakallen (800m), and put up four other first ascents.

The 2002 Caucasus Scottish Climbing Expedition

A team of 6 mainly young Scots intending to do first British ascents of some established routes in the Bezingi and Baksan regions.

The Scottish Coast Range Expedition

Chris Cartwright and Simon Richardson established a new line on Mt Gilbert in the British Columbian coastal mountains.

The Scottish West Face of Kizil Asker Expedition

Blair Fyffe, Guy Robertson and Ez Tresidder try new routes on the large granite walls of this hitherto restricted area of West Kokshaal-Too of the Tien Shan. The team also received MEF and BMC grants.

The Scottish Moroccan On-sight Expedition

Guy Robertson and Trevor Wood attempt a series of climbs at Tafraoute. Newsletter report

The SMC Greenland Expedition

Stephen Reid, Colwyn Jones, Jonathon Preston, Hamish Irvine attempt a lightweight Alpine style 1st ascent of Dansketind South Ridge (1000m) in the Staunings Alps amongst other objectives.

Scottish Super Mixed

Scott Muirs attempt to repeat the hardest sport mixed routes in the world in one season.

 

2003

The Scottish Lemon Mountains Expedition

Members of the Jacobites Mountaineering Club visit the Hedghog glacier area to explore Lucy and Caultald glaciers and achieve at least one 1st ascent for each member of the party.
