The expeditions listed below benefited from the Sportscotland grant,
administered by the MCofS.

1993
Karakoram, Pakistan.

Scottish Aling Glacier Expedition

The weather was not the friend of this expedition.This two man team were eventually forced to abandon base camp after three weeks.

Laupers Bjerg,
Greenland.

Jordanhill College East Greenland Expedition

After delays, the summit was reached on the second attempt, so plans to attempt other peaks in the area were called off when time ran out.

 

1993
Khan-tengri,
Kirghizstan.

Welsh-Scottish Tien Shan Expedition

The challenging south face was not surmounted but ascents via the north and west faces were made.

 

1993
Cordillera Real range, Bolivia.

Scottish Cordillera Real Expedition.

The team coped stoically with problem after problem, seriously curtailing the planned itinerary. The fifth attempt saw them at the top of Huyana Potosi.

Himalayas.
Nepal/China.

Mount Everest - First Irish Ascent.

This large expedition sucessfully tackled the north face in three teams.

 

1994
Central
Caucasus

Crab Crawl on the Bezingi Wall.

This two man team set out to traverse the Bezingi wall. Bad weather and sickness forced a retreat after seven days.

Pakistan

The British Beusten Glacier Expedition

The team of six suceeded in climbing two of the three peaks aimed for. They also built a bridge across the melt water.

Central Caucasus.

Bezingi Wall Expedition

This team of four traversed the Bezingi wall in what was agreed to be thier most enjoyable climb ever.

 

1995
Kyrgistan,
Central Asia

Bristol Tien Shan Expedition

The team of six climbers achieved new routes and first british ascents before illness and bad weather shortened the expedition.

 

1996
Himalayas. Nepal.

The British Ama Dablam

This team of five made it to 5,800m on this well planned expedition.

 

1996
Himachel Pradesh. India.

Scottish Himalayan Kullu Eiger Expedition

The team reached the summit of Kulu Eiger with little in the way of setbacks.

 

1996
The Sauntings Alps. Greenland.

The Scottish Mountaineering Club Greenland Expedition

The team of eight spent three weeks climbing and naming previously unnclimbed peaks. Several of which were ascended by all eight members.
