The MCofS makes sure that mountaineers views are taken into account when Government, Local and National, Government Bodies, and other organisations make decisions about the mountain environment. We have volunteers nominated to the following:

The Access Forum Currently advising Government on Access Legislation
Cairngorm Partnership A Government Organisation advising on Cairngorms
Cowal Forest District Environmental Panel Giving input to Forestry activities west of Lomond
Aberfoyle Forest District Environmental Panel Giving input to Forestry activities east of Lomond
Loch Lomond and Trossachs Working Group Currently advising on the proposed National Park
Nevis Steering Group A Working Group on recreation in Glen Coe & Nevis
Upper Deeside Trust A Local Trust tackling access & Conservation issues
British Upland Footpath Trust Trustees and founder member advising on footpaths
National Trust for Scotland Input to the policy decisions of the NTS
The Tourism and the Environment Task Force Overseeing outdoor 'green' tourism
Scottish Mountain Leader Training Board Advising on the content of the National Awards
UK Mountain Leader Training Board Advising on the National Awards at UK level
Scottish Sports Association Advising Sportscotland about our activity
Highland Bunkhouses Bothies and Barns
