Neal Beggs

Born in 1959 in Northern Ireland, Neal has a BA from Sheffield Hallam University and an MA from Glasgow School of Art. He has already made an impact in mountaineering art in Glasgow with several shows and projects including the following:

'Mountain Madness', 1998
Mountain Madness
1998, The Glasgow Project Room. Independent Studios: Mountain Madness Show – Surfaceaction. A video of winter climbing around the inside of an art gallery, using ice axes and crampons, later screened at the entrance to the show after all the other exhibits had been installed – viewers could follow Neal's climbing by looking for the holes in the wall and ceiling!!

September 1999. The Centre of Contemporary Arts for the McLellan Galleries, Glasgow: commissioned work 'There are as many tower blocks in Glasgow as there are Munros'. A chronological list of the Munros down one side of a corridor and a corresponding list of the tower blocks on the opposite side.
