The Noise Association is undertaking research into the effect of increased traffic noise in rural areas. Unlike urban areas, where the noise implications of traffic have been well researched, the effects in rural areas, particularly more remote areas used for recreation, are poorly understood. Dr Jillian Anable (The Centre for Transport Policy, RGU, Aberdeen) is looking for ideas for case studies in Scotland where a road has been newly built, upgraded or has simply experienced significant traffic growth over the last 5-10 years and which has affected the enjoyment of living or walking in the area. If you have any thoughts on this project, please e-mail her directly at j.anable@rgu.ac.uk |
