Andrew Brown 20 October 2005 Dear Mr Brown Ref: Planning Application No. 05 00334 FULLO – Glensanda Quarry Extension The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) objects to the proposed extension of Glensanda Quarry on the grounds of landscape impact and loss of ground to which the public are currently able to take access. The proposed extension would have a significant impact on the visual qualities of this spectacular area of Scotland and would reduce the recreational opportunities in the area; and yet there is currently no available information about the application on the Highland Council website, and the extension would not take place for several years. So, what is the rush? Why should a decision be taken in haste now? There must be a delay until this application can be considered more carefully with all the facts available for interested parties to take into account. The MCofS would like to see this application rejected for the reasons we state above, but if it is not rejected there should at least be a public inquiry so that such a major decision is made after the facts in the case have been properly considered, rather than taken in haste and forcing everyone concerned to live with the consequences for evermore. Yours sincerely
