The National Trust for Scotland are undertaking a review of the current visitor facilities at BEN LAWERS NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE, and would like to hear your views on the appropriate provision of visitor facilities. Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve It is an internationally important site due to the assemblage of mountain plants present, as well as the archaeological evidence of human habitation and seasonal agriculture. The National Trust for Scotland owns and manages Ben Lawers NNR, under the support and guidance of SNH, with the following aims:
The existing Mountain Visitor Centre was built in 1972 and provides a range of interpretation and publications, and a centre for Ranger-led walks and guidance. A small charge is levied on visitors to contribute towards the running costs of the visitor centre. The car park operates on a contributions basis, in order to support active conservation work on the reserve. The National Trust for Scotland is committed to the future of continued public access and education at Ben Lawers NNR. This study is intended to help the Trust make the most of its resources and to provide the most appropriate facilities for visitors, in the best location and with minimal impact on the environment. The questionnaire will run until 8th August 2007. |
